Brand New Luxury Lodge in the Canadian Rocky Mountains
March 22, 2006

Canadian Rockies’ newest luxury lodge set in Yoho National Park, has announced its Grand Opening for the spring 2006 season.

Cathedral Mountain Lodge will be welcoming guests starting May 21, offering the privacy, luxury and comfort of exclusive log cabins in the middle of one of the most naturally stunning and serene places on earth – the Canadian Rocky Mountains.

The newly completed timber frame lodge, built with re-claimed Douglas fir posts and beams, was designed by renowned Vancouver architect, Brad Lamoureux. The Riverside Dining Room and Grand Room are distinguished by an indoor/outdoor river rock fireplace, 24 foot vaulted ceiling and 18 foot high windows, providing majestic views from every vantage point.

Situated amidst tall spruce and fir trees along the banks of the Kicking Horse River, Cathedral Mountain Lodge and its 29 surrounding luxury log cabins, allows an escape from the sounds and stresses of city life and is the perfect remedy to revive, renew and replenish with an infinite array of recreational activities.

Cathedral Mountain Lodge offers first-class comfort in every cabin, all of which embrace the grandeur of the Rocky Mountains with beautiful beams of natural light streaming through the doublewide windows. All cabins offer a wood burning or gas fireplace and deep soaker tub. Guests can curl up in the sitting area amongst cozy throws and cushions and admire the beautiful views of the rippling river waters and one of a kind background of stone-cut mountains.

Log cabins featuring wood burning stone fireplaces are stocked daily with firewood and cedar kindling. Cabins are furnished with pine log queen size beds topped with luxurious cozy down duvets and feather pillows. The large sitting areas are beautifully appointed with Canadian antiques; tall sliding doors lead to spacious bathrooms with deep soaker bathtubs. Comfortable private decks offer fabulous views in a tranquil setting.

Five of the log cabins feature lofts allowing accommodation for up to four people. In addition to the pine log queen size bed, the loft has two twin beds, accessible by a traditional ladder, of course.

Our newest cabins offer a rustic log queen bed with down duvet, tall vaulted ceilings, gas fireplace and spacious decks. Oversized windows provide mountain views and create a perfect retreat for couples.

There is no television or telephone to disrupt your mountain escape. Your purpose is to replenish and revive - because tomorrow you hike, climb, raft, canoe, bike, golf, fish and horseback ride. Close to the attractions and activities of Yoho National Park, Lake Louise and Banff National Park, there is so much to do!

Guests are able to hike to Canada’s second highest waterfall, Takakkaw Falls, or to glacial fed Moraine Lake, Emerald Lake and Lake Louise. There is no shortage of adventure for the curious and venturesome traveler. The scenic Sulphur Mountain Gondola, the Columbia Icefields and activities such as horseback riding, canoeing and hiking are abundant.

Adrenaline seekers can enjoy jet boating on the Columbia River and white water rafting on the Kicking Horse River. Golf enthusiasts can play a round at one of the nearby championship courses. The natural wonders of inspiring experiences and activities are endless.

Unsurpassed guest service and attention to quality and detail, top off the experience at this peaceful, elegant mountain retreat. Situated next to the glacier fed Kicking Horse River, Cathedral Mountain Lodge is open seasonally and closes on October 2, 2006.
